when i try to create an admin account, i submit and get a 500 internal server error.
I'm hosting from a private hosting service that is run by a friend.

ahh, thnx for the suggestion. installed CURL and it fixed it.

I am having the same issue. However I have installed CURL. Could it be anything else I may have screwed up on my end?

Have you restarted your server and your services after installing curl?
